Hear Some Mighty Fine Pickin' at Banjopalooza!

Last year's Banjopalooza "Traditions" concert sold out, and we're expecting a great crowd again this year. Plan to be part of the fun on Saturday, August 22, at Highland Brewing Company in Asheville.

This is the time of year when Highland creates its famous Clawhammer Oktoberfest seasonal beer, so what better time and place to celebrate the banjo than with their newly released Clawhammer brew? (In case you don't know, Clawhammer is a percussive banjo playing style common to old-time music.)

National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow Sheila Kay Adams and master musicians Eric Ellis and David Johnson promise a lively performance. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased in advance here, or at Highland Brewing Company the night of the concert, if space is available.

The Blue Ridge Music Trails of NC "Traditions" concerts are part musical performance, part storytelling. They not only showcase some of the top talent in our region, but also include time for the musicians to share their stories and experiences with the audience, which makes for an entertaining and meaningful experience.
